I have been busy. Sorry to jump in so late...

I know this thread as a least a couple branches
and the subject has changed... (Partly because it has
nothing to do with what we are talking about...)
Plus critical errors were made that impacted the ability
to provide (or get) a correct answer. (Bummer)
I think Steven came up with the actual answer, after
the list was much tortured (by accident <grin>).

At Karenware, there is a small free "Hasher" program that
allows anyone to get their own computer to figure out the
MD5 number of any file they downloaded.
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/pthasher.asp

Better download sites provide that number as part of the
download page, (at least for bigger files), so when you make
your own MD5 number after the D/L, you can see if they match...

I still do that sometimes, but my D/L manager (GetRight) does
something like that in the background aggressively, so they
ALWAYS match, if I bother to check... But that allows me to
look other places faster if or when other problems/things come up...
Plus, if I store the file away for a rainy day (this one will NOT age
well BTW) I can be SURE it comes out of storage correctly...

In Karen's report at the end of her process, she even lists the file
name so the entire thing can be stored away with the file or e-mailed
to lists, etc for comparing to numbers others get (or got...)
Posting an MD5 to a list should be the last place to look, after
the original site D/L page can not be returned to, can't be found,
or if they never provided one.

If proper tools were used, this could have (or would have) gone
much smoother...
(OK, I make typos too, but I tend to do "keyboard copy and paste"
operations (instead), and that cuts down those types of errors drastically...)

When I opened the message, I found that Marc Sims had written:

Yes it did work. On my machine besides I use Comcast to download it.
You may want to save yourself the fustration and get it on DVD instead.

Yeah, I did order it. Thought I'd get it going quicker this way.
