Thanks. I am not sure what simple or classic file sharing is, I just
went to the drop down menu and where it said sharing & security
I went to the network sharing & security box and said share this
folder on the network. How do I check that they are using netbios
over tcp? I used Linksys easylink advisor to set up internet access.
I just turned on ( allow) microsoft file sharing & printing in AVG
(just discovered setting) there is also a setting for internet
connection sharing that is set to block? Do I leave that?
I don't know if that takes effect upon rebooting, but as of now it
made no change.

Not familiar with AVG firewall, but the profile should probably be
set to "network" (or whatever term is used) rather than
"standalone", and a "local (LAN) trust zone" created.

I just purchased a laptop, and I want it to share files with my
desktop. Both connect fine to the internet. The Desktop (dt) is
hardwired to linksys wrt54gs router. The laptop (lt) is wireless
and connects through router to internet fine. I set up both
computers on the same workgroup, I named each, I indicated which
files & directories should be shared from both. Both are running
AVG w/ firewall v 7.5.427. I have tried turning off both firewalls
but they still are not seen. Do I need to specifically tell AVG
which computers to pass through? Both AVG profiles are set to
standalone . Is there someplace else that I need to set permissions
to get these to see each other?
