I've already stated the "facts from history" about MSFT giving up
Xenix to SCO & I provided links to back it up.

Marc: I know that and you could have made if brief and to the point but
instead it rambled on and didn't bother to read the rest of it. Just make it
short
and to the point.

>With Microsoft's ever dominant position in this industry its no
>question that given this pattern of domination through aquiring
>similar products they'll soon take suse, mandrake and the rest.

Next thing you'll be accusing MSFT of trying to take over Novell &
Oracle & IBM. Novell's DOS was never a major player but their
business practices of acquiring DR DOS isn't much different than
MSFT's in that both were designed to limit the competition.

Marc: Competition is the obvious driving factor in any business and
everyone know this fact. How do you know that I'll be accusing Microsoft of
taking over Novell when I only stated in my original post Novel DOS 7 lost out
to MS-DOS? Where did this notion come from? I said nothing of the sort about
Microsoft taking over Oracle or IBM.

I find it interesting that when you want to talk about history even
tho others have already that yours is not about the topic but another
history time line.

Marc: MS-DOS was just my an example of how Microsoft takes and prices other
products out of the market and makes there product the dominant player in the
market. As for the time line its the same history late 70's, and the 80's.

Why are you even talking about DOS as I can
clearly see the topic is about Microsoft & Linux not ancient history
about a dying if not already dead DOS.

Marc: see my MS-DOS comment above. And yes DOS has been dead for years.

Times have changed. BG is not
the head of MSFT as they no longer need a ramrod at the top. MSFT has
plenty of the market share without competing head to head with
another flavor of Linux & history shows that MSFT has given away what
Linux flavor they had to SCO. What next just because MSFT has nothing
to do with Red Hat at the moment? Are you going to start up with the
history of the various Office Suites? The fact still remains that
MSFT's agreements are with Novell's SUSE & not Oracle nor Red Hat.

Marc: Times have changed indeed. I know well as others do besides that BG is no
longer the head of Microsoft isn't the point. Microsoft is over 95% of the
market in sales of WIndows. Just because Microsoft isn't looking at Red Hat
they soon will be. Why? To gain market share just as any other business would
seek to
gain. As for Microsoft it may soon aquire Red Hat as it did with other
companies in the past. History show us that. :)
