We're having a problem with a printer in our labs that's part of our pay
printing setup.
It's one of two printers connected to an external HP Jet Direct print
server.
The PRINTER (an HP 4250N) wants to say Processing Job or Canceling Job
but not actually do either.
This started with a large photo job yesterday PM (a number of pages of
4-up photos from Windows Photo viewer.)
A couple pages came out yesterday afternoon . They tried canceling it
and our troubles began. I believe that MOST
of the pages of that job have eventually come out last night and then it
spit out another job, but it's still stuck in it's
processing Job mode and nothing's coming out.
We have a workaround for the students currently, that takes this printer
out of the loop for now.
We've tried resets and turning off and it's not worked.
The Printer had a 2 hour "nap" this morning unplugged from both the
network and the power.
We reconnected it. It's STILL doing the same thing.
We tried unplugging the Print Server to reset it, no change.
The Help Center here at the College suggested that we have a bad print
driver somewhere, but as busy as things are
we'll be hard pressed to be able to check all 50 odd PCs to find it...in
any event we need the printer to be able to go to
"Ready" status and actually accept jobs again.
Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?
Any that come directly to me I'll summarize back to the list.
