Ben/Anyone with verified information,
The current system requirements listed on NeTraverse's web site say the
kernel can be 2.2.X. I couldn't find anything that said I must upgrade my
kernel from 2.2.14 to anything else, although there have been some
statements here on the reflector suggesting that I need to. The download
section includes RPMs for both 2.2.14 and 2.2.16, so it appears to me that
NeTraverse is supporting both kernels. It is my impression that NeTraverse
supports these kernels because they exist and are widely used in the Linux
community. I can find no online documentation from NeTraverse suggesting
that I'm better off with 2.2.16. Can someone point me to some relevant info?
**My 2 cents***
I will point out that there are a lot of Power Users in the Linux world
that are very comfortable with the idea of upgrading kernels and changing
things around very quickly. They hear things on reflectors, or read things
on a distributors web site, and then off they go to make changes. However
(no matter how you might look down at me) I'm not one of them, I don't care
to be, and I do not wish to mess with this unless I am told by NeTraverse
that their product has a specific problem with 2.2.14 that is fixed in a
newer kernel, AND I am experiencing that problem. I have built kernels
before, and can do it, I simply do not want to unless I get value out of it.
**Off my soapbox**
Thanks in advance for any help in this area.
With best regards,
Mark

Nope, redhat 6.2's current kernel is 2.2.16-3, in the errata. Kernel
versions before 2.2.15 had a couple of security issues, so it's suggested
you upgrade. You can get all of the current upgrades to 6.2 at
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/updates/6.2/ . Although you'll want the
win4lin 6.2 kernel I expect. ;)
