Win4Lin accesses the CD-ROM drive via the Unix device for it.
This is specified in /etc/default/merge with
MERGE_CD_DEV_NAME
This is usually about on the third line.
The default for this is set up when you install Win4Lin is:
/dev/cdrom
The loading of the Windows CD uses this setting to read in
the Windows installation files from the CD. So if it got
that far, at least the device name is correct.
You have to make sure that the permissions on the device
allow normal user to access the device.
