I have a quick suggestion regarding Debian for Netraverse. I can understand
you only want to do a RPM for the major distributions. It is not particulary
exciting to build other types of packages. But here's a proposition you
really should consider: why not use the power of the debian community to
build this package. I mean, you should ask someone willing to build a
package for you. You don't even endanger your code since packaging has
nothing to do with the code. Personnaly, I'd be willing to build debian
packages for you if this would help you. And I'd encourage you to allow
Slackware people to do the same. It would cost you NO money at all and we
would just send you the result by e-mail, and you would add it to your ftp.
We could repackage the old versions and, maybe, the new version when it's
out (which is not a problem since we need a license to make it work).
I encourage Netraverse to think carefully about it since it would bring you
the support of debian users at no costs. I've been using Debian for quite a
time and I can say it's frustrating when there is no DEB available. Debian
is the result of the work of willing developpers who work for free. Why not
cooperate with the community?
PS. You could even do an APT-able source which is very easy. For debian
users, it would mean a forever devotion! lol
Well think about it please. I think it is a good idea. Who supports me? ;)
