Hi,
Given that my questions on the OEM CD problem have stayed unanswered, I have
grabbed a standard Win 98 CD. After the boot under the win4lin (2.4.3) kernel,
Win4Lin has accepted my boot disk and the CD for the general installation under
the root account. It asked me to connect with a user account to install the
user-copy of windows. When I try this (with or without a boot floppy in the
drive) Win4Lin tells : "The initial Windows install has failed" and it stops
doing anything else. I must quit it. I have tried more than once but nothing
has improved and I cannot have more than this very laconic and unhelpful
message. Any idea on how I can get further?
FYI: I use Mandrake 8 with a Savage MX adapter and 2.4.3 kernel.
