I am using Win4Lin 3.0, Mandrake 8.0, and a manually patched kernel. I was
using kernel 2.2.18, and everything was working fine. I downloaded and
patched a 2.4.4 kernel with the patch file provided on the FTP site. I ran
config, and said yes to Win4Lin support. Now when I try to run the Win4Lin
script on startup, I get this:

grep: /proc/ksyms: No such file or directory
Win4Lin 2.4 kernel support is missing, cannot load Win4Lin modules.
Starting Merge virtual network (vnetd)

But the installer (win4lin-install) doesn't complain, and says everything
(system and installer) is up to date.

If I try to run win4lin as a user, I get this message:

Win4Lin driver not loaded or open limit exceeded.

No dosexec's are running. I understand the message if the kernel isn't
enabled, but Win4Lin support is compiled in. Can anyone give me any pointers?

AMD Athlon/700, 384MB of RAM, NVidia TNT2 video, XFree 4.x with backingstore
turned on.

Thanks!
