Likely problems with the initrd. Did you build a new one for the win4lin
kernel with mkinitrd?

That's because Mandrake likes to "customize" with their version of the kernel
and is not very open about what they do.
The Win4Lin kernel for Mandrake is not a drop-in replacement, did not include
compatable modules since it produces error messages about modules when
loaded. The most recent version of the win4lin kernel will not work for me
either, but the next-to last version seems to work OK. The source RPM for
mandrake 8.0 is not available on the site (there is a link to it in the
/lib/modules/2.4.3-20mdk-win4lin directory).
Supermount has problems with the win4lin kernel.
The reiserfs module was missing frm the smp win4lin version.
I tried using the Win4Lin kernel patches on the Mandrake kernel source, but
it would not build. I'm not a kernel guru, so I don't know why.
