Okay, best get some confusion out of the way first I think. I probably didn't explain myself too well, I just wanted to connect other computers to my network and I didn't want to extend a network though the Fritz! Box router I have would certainly handle that so the Fritz! Stick is exactly as is, a Wi-Fi Stick to be plugged into a Windows machine with those extra features I spoke of, the transferring of Wi-Fi data thus illiminating the need for any setup on the computer you plug the Fritz! Stick into.
As for devices out there for far less than the Fritz! Stick? Nothing surprises me these days but of course 1 gets what 1 pays for and a lot of those cheaper devices have problems with accessible interfaces or lack there of, range, and so on.
