Dean,

Having a great deal of personal experience dealing with the INS and with employment agencies I can tell you that employers (Wal-Mart in this case) has an obligation to check the credentials of the vendors they employ.  Not the employees of the vendor.  Obviously this vendor had falsified the I-9 forms among other documents.  Local companies have been burned by perfect looking false documents and unscrupulous vendors as well.  Again, not everything can be blamed on Wal-mart.  The total matter is under investigation.  Whomever broke the law will be held accountable.  I responded to your announcement because you only told a small part of the story.  The part that totally agreed with your stance.  In my opinion it's best to tell the whole story.

Regarding "[I would make a reference here to the back-room deals our City Council no doubt cut with Wal-Mart recently, but if I did it would probably not be posted on WOD.]"  Sorry Dean.  I must have missed those meetings.  But cute little shots like that are the reason many stay off of WOD.  If you have an issue directly with me regarding my honesty I can easily be reached at 452-2700 or 452-4460.  Thank you.

Gerry;
Nonetheless, Wal-Mart has an obligation to check the credentials of the people they hire, regardless of the pool they come from.
Further, if Wal-mart is so innocent in this matter why were the feds investigating their corporate offices?
