Regarding National and Local lists, I would like to call attention to WOD's founding which came from discussions as early as in the fall of '99 before we started in Aug of 2000. Originally we were exploring the use of a software called Knowledge Forum that would allow us to model graphically the connections of ideas that posters had on civic issues so we could see the big picture and various view points on issues. The idea was always to have it be a vibrant place to discuss issues that have a direct bearing on us locally. It was envisioned that there would be an active interplay between citizens ,elected officials, and the media, and that the forum would represent Winona to the extent it could in an online capacity. Obviously, we haven't always realized those dreams. I would encourage you to come to the June 8th meeting to reconsider how we can more faithly meet those original ideas. There is such talent and insight in you as subscribers.
When the two lists formed, we had a considerably higher number of daily posts. Part of the splitting was logistical. Also, I believe national and state topics that have direct local interests have been recognized as fair game.
Please post your thoughts on this issue and/or attend June 8 mtg. 4 pm City Hall -Wenonah Room. More of an agenda will be posted in advance, please share any other topics of interest for the agenda.. Randy Schenkat
