[Winona Online Democracy] Grand Excursion visitors to Winona's levee will have an unobstructed view of HBC's trashy equipment yard. The vines and trees that had been growing along the perimeter have been mostly removed. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so while tree huggers such as myself might have preferred the vegetation, conniseurs of chain-linked barb wire fences, cable spools, and scrap metal will be delighted.
Another nice touch was spraying weeds along the side of Riverview Drive in the vicinity of our downtown hotel instead of mowing. The large expanse of brown will please those who think the recent rains have resulted in way too much greenery along the riverfront. John N.
