[Winona Online Democracy]

It is interesting to hear all the preferences about parades. Each summer
our band (Gate City Jazz Band) plays in about 4 parades. We are often the
only live music aside from high school bands. We try to stay at least 2
places away from any canned music. The people seem to enjoy live music. I
have noticed that most small town parades are loaded up with tractors, fire
engines, and other such items. Live high school bands seem to be a favorite
for many parades. I am entirely open to the idea of politicians and
political parties entering the parades. They don't seem to detract from the
rest of the parades.
Just my observations.
