I'm with Chris...we annex Buffalo and
Trempealeau counties first...Caledonia has dibs on Iowa. Aghaming will be
all ours! (Ah-Gah-'Ming)
We need the city to be managing land use or we
are gonna have a mess on our hands. I'm not saying the city is doing
everything right but I believe the administration at city hall is doing a pretty
good job.
I would hope that Eric et al would examine
concepts developed by the Met Council in the Twin Cities...it is considered a
model nationally for discouraing sprawl. It's Municipal Service Area, I
believe it is called, is not a bad idea...it is a circle drawn out from, say,
Third and Center...we're gonna fill this area in before we go outside the
circle. Obviously our semi-circle will end at the Wisconsin border
(contrary to Chris' and my wish), but I wonder if this kind of thinking went
into the proposed orderly annexation area in Wilson township, or if lines were
simply drawn following roads and natural features.
Keith...can you let me know? I'm also
interested in why the city chose to negotiate an orderly agreement dealing
exclusively with residential development. Sprawl is sprawl, and I would
think (with the exception of the 43-90 interchange) each kind of development
should share a common boundary.
