[Winona Online Democracy]
When I read the article in yesterday's Daily News (after my earlier post yesterday) I, too, found myself thinking that the WSH Administration was between a rock and a hard place. It seemed obvious by the quotes that an effort is being made to find an agreeable way to bring the student's underlying message to the forefront within the school. Hat's off to Nancy Wondrasch and her team for dealing thoughtfully with a very tough situation--I imagine that they must have to do this kind of thing every day, limelight or no.
I still am curious about what the dress code or policy is in order to understand if this was the basis for wanting to have the button removed or banned. Can anyone enlighten us about that?
All I know is that this issue is buzzing all around town and I've participated in and overheard many thoughtful conversations and points of view because of that front page story!

Wow, what a great discussion on Winona Online Democracy about the "hot button issue" at the High School.
This is definately not a simple issue.
If people are not comfortable with complexity or democracy, this topic is not for you.
Here are some of my perspectives:
---
1. The High School Administration has done an incredible job with this
very sticky issue. I am not an administrative toady but I honestly believe
the administration is doing the best that can be expected of anyone when
dealing with this no-win situation. They have been working very hard on
finding compromises and alternatives with Carrie.
