I am happy that Craig started the ball rolling on
the upcoming referendum. I have been feeling helpless and confused about
the whole issue. It seems that everyone I talk to about this issue has
already decided to vote no because they are angry about the
School Board's decision to put the administrative offices in the
concourse. The common thread in the conversations is that the school board
is not sensitive to the communities opinions and that if they are going to be
wasteful with our dollars, then we need to give the board a clear message that
we will not support them.
Is it too late for the board to change its plans to
build at the Senior High? It is my opinion that if they will
not consider other options, that it is a waste of time to have the
referendum. I know of many people, who are pro
education, who will be voting no for the first time in their
lives. I think that we could get some of these people to
change their minds if there was a way to let the board know that the
community is against the concourse plan and/or any delay
games.
Can anyone think of a way togive the board a 'no
confidence vote', and at the same time get the referendum passed. I
want to promote voting yes for the referendum. I
feel strongly that our kids need adequate funding of the education. I am
convinced that if we don't invest in our children in the early years, we will
pay for it 10 fold in later years. Please help!!

There are six weeks until the School Referendum Vote.
I think it will be important to get the word out encouraging people to
vote. There will be questions, debate, argument, etc. We on
this forum are only about 200 of the area citizens who will have the
opportunity to vote on November 8th. Actually that makes us one of the
largest civic forums in the community. Hopefully we will take advantage of
the opportunity to ask questions, share information and help with ideas to
maximize citizen participation in the honor and responsibility to cast our
ballots. Let me start by saying I personally support going back to all day,
everyday Kindergarten. The proven results in terms of school
performance shows this is an investment well worth making.
