Absentee Voting
You can vote by absentee ballot if you are unable to vote in person on election day as a result of the following reasons: you are away from home, you are ill or disabled, you are serving as an election judge in another precinct, or you are unable to go to the polling place due to a religious holiday or beliefs. Absentee ballots will be available beginning October 9, 2005. We recommend applying early for absentee voting.
With absentee voting you can vote in one of two different processes.
1. You can complete an absentee ballot in person prior to Election Day by reporting
to the Winona Area Public School District Business Office located at 654 Huff Street in Winona. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Business Office will have extended hours on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7.
OR
2. You can submit a written request to the Winona Area Public School District Business Office located at 654 Huff Street in Winona. Written requests can take the form of a letter, a hand written note, a fax, or an e-mail. Include your name and the address of the absentee voter. The Business Office will mail an absentee voter application form and voter registration form (if the voter is not already registered to
vote).
These forms are to be completed by the individual applying for an absentee ballot and returned to the Business Office. Upon receipt of these forms, the Business Office will mail an absentee ballot to the requesting party.
If you are in the military or outside the US, you or your parent, spouse, brother, sister, or adult child can apply for you.

Vote on all three questions on the Referendum Ballot.
Go to the Winona public school near you - which is most likely your polling place. If you aren't sure, check by calling the County Auditor 457-6320 or the School District at 494-0800 or on-line at http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/.
The new machines at the polling place are not touch screen and are only a different place to put your paper ballot. There is nothing new for the voter to do.
If you are not yet registered to vote, please still go to the polls. The same day registration process is easy and simple. Just bring your driver's license. The rules for same day registration are:
