[Winona Online Democracy]

As participants in WOD we need to encourage our citizens to vote.  Please help by getting the word out on how this upcoming election will work.

Vote on all three questions on the Referendum Ballot.

Go to the Winona public school near you - which is most likely your polling place.  If you aren't sure, check by calling the County Auditor 457-6320 or the School District at 494-0800 or on-line at http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/.

The new machines at the polling place are not touch screen and are only a different place to put your paper ballot.  There is nothing new for the voter to do.

If you are not yet registered to vote, please still go to the polls.  The same day registration process is easy and simple.  Just bring your driver's license.  The rules for same day registration are:

Voters who are not registered to vote as of October 18 may register on Election Day at their polling site. You must complete a voter registration form and provide proper identification. Proper identification includes the following:

• Minnesota driver’s license, learner’s permit, identification card, or receipt for one, with your current address, OR

• U.S. passport with utility bill*, OR

• U.S. military phone ID card with utility bill*, OR

• Student ID, registration, or fee statement with current address, OR

• Student phone ID with utility bill*, OR

• Student ID if on a student list on file at the polling place, OR

• Someone who is registered in the precinct where you live who will vouch for your residence  (one person can vouch for up to 14 others).

* The utility bill must have your name, current address, and be due within 30 days of the election. Utility bills may be for electric, gas, water, solid waste, sewer, telephone, or cable TV.

So, go to your local school on Nov. 8th and VOTE!
