[Winona Online Democracy] Good Evening, "Potentially hard to interpret" to say the least. In your own admittance, you state the spreadsheet needs improvement. Ideally, it could have been reviewed and improved upon before you asked for our assistance. Since we are all just as busy. However, that said, I looked it over regardless---and here are my thoughts. 1) The first Column that reads "Action Year" is effective. All rows should have a corresponding Action Year--showing your "hopeful" plans and a potential timeline. 2) "Action Level" is a bit ambiguous. The word "Full" means very little. If you wanted 5 more staff members and added 4---tell me that. Partial and Full do not give hard numbers. 4 is better than nothing and most people would feel as though the district came through. 3) "Improvement Area" is a must and certainly acceptable. Just be sure this column is in line with what was promised on any pre-referendum material. I have not checked, but I'm sure someone else will. 4) "Student Achievement" What does this mean? Is it based on testing? There must be a better way to state how this affects the student populous without sounding like it is all NCLB based. 5)"Safe and Welcoming Schools"---isn't this part of Achievement? If you can manage to explain the Improvement Area well, the idea of the safer school should be self explanatory when we read about an increase in staffing, lighting, improvements, etc. 6)"Efficient and Effective" Operations --- What exactly does an increase in that area of 33% mean to me or to anyone else? Tell us how or why it is more efficient and effective. (If you know that is....) Perhaps tell us what it saves us in the long run. Overall, I endorse the efforts, but they do need to be tweaked. You are dealing with a population of very upset people, the more clear and transparent you are the more successful the district will be. Good Luck. Tania M. Schmidt Asst. Reg. WSU

Admittedly it took a while but the on-line "check-list" or 'to do" list is now up and running on the WAPS web site. You will find that it is in spread sheet form and in my opinion potentially hard to interpret or understand. I've asked the superintendent that some sort of instruction be added to better understand the data. In addition, if you or other readers would review this and provide me with some suggestions we'll make sure to consider your suggestions as we make this information easier to understand. Thanks for your patience. Respectfully, Kelly P.
