fresh rivers and water ways?

Furthermore, I think Linda is wrong on the facts. As I cited on the
web page, the impact of animal manure is far greater than from human
waste.
If you have never farmed you have no idea how hard it is to
make it.
I'll defer to what Ken Avidor wrote when I showed him Linda's
message. He wrote, "I love that argument. I should be allowed
to pour ink on passersby from my studio window while screaming,
'You don't know how hard it is to be a cartoonist!'"

If those feedlot study committee members had not walked out
those years ago, it's highly probable that we would have a
more highly defined feedlot ordinance today.
Duane Bell and Jerry Heim had no problem with doing the right thing
and voting against the permits.
Those that disagree with the current adopted feedlot ordinance
should work to change it through the legal and established
process which is clearly outlined in the county zoning
ordinance. Those who seek to change laws and ordinances
arbitrarily and capriciously are the real danger to our
community and our democracy.
What hog manure that is. County Commissioners are not there to
rubberstamp a "process" for funneling large feedlots into Winona
County.
Challenging a feedlot ordinance by denying individual permits is
hardly "arbitrary and capricious" when the denial is based on
scientific evidence. That was exactly the case made by Jim Riddle
and several others.
The "legal and established" processes in Minnesota and the United
States are almost always the result of a top-down power structure.
How much was the feedlot ordinance influenced by agribusiness?
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was *written* by them.
It was outrageous for Voegeli to accept the endorsement of the Green
Party and then embrace a process designed to facilitate large scale.
Challenging such laws and ordinances is not the danger to democracy
-- because there is *no such thing* as large-scale democracy. We
live in a corporate republic. The real danger to democracy is lies.
