[Winona Online Democracy]
Robert,
Until you can show me an effective way to ensure that people don't kill, it will be necessary to control their access to guns and other weapons. We really can't enforce bans on people - until after the nasty deeds have been done. The argument is not whether guns kill or people kill. The argument is how to control access to guns in order to make our society safer and to do so without violating a fundamental constitutional right. The answer to that question is far from settled. Perhaps it never will be. A gun on the hip of a citizen doesn't promote courtesy. It demands courtesy - courtesy that is granted out of fear. That sounds like the ultimate tool of a bully. How is that good? -Leslie Hittner ----- Original Message ----- From: Robert P Kaldunski To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2008 13:12 Subject: [Winona] Supreme Court Ruling on the 2nd Ammendment [Winona Online Democracy] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's about time. people need to understand that Guns don't kill, people kill and a gun in the home is a deturant to many crimes and a gun on the hip of a citizen promotes courtesy. Check ou the history of the early 1900's.
