The above is a Chicago Trib columnist named Steve Chapman on the
probable result of the decision.
in brief, he doesn't agree with Les. The trend will appear in a
couple years.

I'd be curious to know what have been peoples' experience in Winona
since the Conceal and Carry law went into effect a few years ago?
Has anyone had any experiences in which they felt that the change in
law had an impact on them in our community.
Also, when I was on the school board, we had that controversy
regarding whether the board should modify the "no guns" policy to
allow for Saturday gun safety training. Since I've been gone a
couple of years, has there been any further discussion of that
issue? Or has there any impact since the school board decided not
to allow the guns in schools for the training?

Robert,
Until you can show me an effective way to ensure that people don't
kill, it will be necessary to control their access to guns and other
weapons. We really can't enforce bans on people - until after the
nasty deeds have been done. The argument is not whether guns kill or
people kill. The argument is how to control access to guns in order
to make our society safer and to do so without violating a
fundamental constitutional right. The answer to that question is far
from settled. Perhaps it never will be.
A gun on the hip of a citizen doesn't promote courtesy. It demands
courtesy - courtesy that is granted out of fear. That sounds like
the ultimate tool of a bully. How is that good?

It's about time. people need to understand that Guns don't kill,
people kill and a gun in the home is a deturant to many crimes and a
gun on the hip of a citizen promotes courtesy. Check ou the history
of the early 1900's. Bob K
