Several comments about possible Winrad/MAP65 connections:

1. It would be straightforward to make a single-channel version of MAP65
that does everything except automatic polarization fitting.

2. The data stream needed by MAP65 is that which in Linrad is the input
to "FFT2". It is the time-domain data after noise blanking is completed.

3. At present MAP65 is "hard-wired" to expect the sampling rate to be
96000 Hz. With a fast computer it might be possible to use data at
twice this rate, although for EME use the advantage of doing so is
questionable. Data rates not an integral multiple or sub-multiple of
96000 Hz would not be so easy to accommodate.

MAP65 has come a long way since I last wrote about it, and I am still
very excited by its capabilities. It is more sensitive as well as
faster. It has a decoder for shorthand messages, and also a "quick
decode" feature for a specified frequency. By using this feature you
can respond quickly to messages received from a station you are working,
while at the same time keeping an eye on what's going on in the entire
EME sub-band. Soon I must turn attention to giving it a pretty user
interface.

Alberto, if you have ideas on how best to send data from Winrad to
MAP65, let me know. As you know, Leif is working on a
network-connection model for doing this with Linrad.
