The one that I got from Jeffrey is the Alesis IO|2 which, contrary to some
marketing blurbs, does not work at 96 kHz...
They released a new user manual, where the original 96 kHz spec was corrected
into 48 kHz. more in agreement with the
reality...
I have reports that a good external USB audio device is the Audigy 2 NX, which
unfortunately is no more produced. But
maybe eBay can be of help here. The problem with USB devices is that in order
to work at 96 kHz full duplex they must
implement USB 2.0 and not 1.1, otherwise the channel capacity is not large
enough.

Correct, but pay attention to the EMU-1212M. It implements an ASIO channel
numbering scheme which is non standard, and
as such it has problems with the current Winrad. I have one on loan, and when
time permits I will add to the program the
capability to choose which are the ASIO input channels where the I and Q
signals can be found.
