At UA, we order antennas for our Cisco LWAPP AP's (both indoor and outdoor) from Terrawave (http://www.terrawave.com/). Cisco doesn't manufacture antennas. I'm a former Cisco employee, so don't listen to what your account manager tells you if he tells you the opposite. Cisco OEM's WiFi antennas from a number of manufacturers and marks them up significantly. If you give your Terrawave rep the Cisco product number, he or she can find the OEM model.
We have installed over 4,400 AP's over the last year. About 30% are Cisco 1242 LWAPP AP's covering both indoor and outdoor. We've saved a significant amount of our budget by ordering antennas for our 1242's from Terrawave. We are using Cisco 4404 and LWAPP Access point. Can anyone help me with this? Who do you order equipments to support AP from? (I have seen Cisco LWAPP package) Distance problem? Should AP be place on 2 story or 1 story building? What kind of antenna do you recommend? Dipole? Omni? or Patch Panel? Any information will be helpful.. If you have picture of your outdoor antenna, can I see it? Thanks.. -- ----------------------- Allen Matthews Network Engineer Gallaudet University Information Technology Services Washington, DC ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/groups/. ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/groups/.
