We have done business with Terrawave as well- I completely agree with
Tom that Cisco's antennas are too much $$ versus the exact same units
from alternate suppliers. Of late, we have had great luck with Sparco
Technologies for antennas/cables. I personally like Hy Gain (amateur
radio and WLAN stuff) as well. All of these also have great reference
documents, etc. on their web sites.

At UA, we order antennas for our Cisco LWAPP AP's (both indoor and
outdoor)
from Terrawave (http://www.terrawave.com/). Cisco doesn't manufacture
antennas. I'm a former Cisco employee, so don't listen to what your
account
manager tells you if he tells you the opposite. Cisco OEM's WiFi
antennas
from a number of manufacturers and marks them up significantly. If you
give
your Terrawave rep the Cisco product number, he or she can find the OEM
model.

We have installed over 4,400 AP's over the last year. About 30% are
Cisco
1242 LWAPP AP's covering both indoor and outdoor. We've saved a
significant
amount of our budget by ordering antennas for our 1242's from Terrawave.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Outdoor Antenna

I am working to set up outdoor antenna for Wi-FI.. We are using Cisco
4404 and LWAPP Access point.

Can anyone help me with this?

Who do you order equipments to support AP from? (I have seen Cisco
LWAPP package)

Distance problem? Should AP be place on 2 story or 1 story building?

What kind of antenna do you recommend? Dipole? Omni? or Patch Panel?

Any information will be helpful.. If you have picture of your outdoor
antenna, can I see it?

Thanks..
