Hi Scott,
We are a Meru Networks customer & very happy with the product. We were
Cisco customers with AP1200s. (We still have some Cisco APs deployed.)
The pros of using Meru for us were:
* Single channel technology
* 802.11g independence from 802.11b (no speed penalty)
* High density support on thin APs
* Centralized redundant (N+1) controllers for managing APs
* Rogue AP detection & mitigation
* Multiple-radio APs for very-high density deployments
The only con was that Meru is a relatively small company compared to
Cisco. We checked with Gartner, other Meru customers, etc. before
deciding to move to their equipment. We've had growing pains, but have
been happy with the results.

For years we have been a Cisco and Vivato WiFi shop. I am now being
asked to evaluate other WiFi manufacturers. In the past I've looked at
3com, Lucent, and Symbol. However, that's been over 7 years ago at this
point.
So I'm wanting any feedback for other types of WiFi other Universities
are currently utilizing, pros and cons, and even ones in the past you
may have used.
I started looking at Colubris, Xirrus, and Symbol as those are the ones
specifically I was asked to look at. However, I'm just wanting to see
what other options there may be, besides Cisco.
