Myself and one of my counterparts at University of Loughborough also reported
it a couple of years ago, but failed to get any traction.

I had a temporary contract at HP ProCurve in 2010 and worked with the Global
escalations manager there to get it escalated.

They contacted me in early 2011 saying they had a new firmware release that
fixed the problem, but the contract had ended and I didn't have access to a
printer to test.

The model we were working with was a P2055dn, hopefully later firmware should
include the fix, but I can't say for sure.
