With Rachel's help (thanks!) I was able to test the supplicant behaviour in the 
new firmware build, and confirm it works perfectly with Freeradius (at least 
with PEAP).

So I guess I did test it, though I honestly can't remember how, someone must 
have given me access to a test setup in Roseville labs.

So yes on the basis of that email it looks like the P2055dn (at least), does 
now work correctly with FreeRADIUS.
