I have a d-link 614+ and I just recently mounted a 11dBi 90 degree vertical sector
panel antenna
http://www.superpass.com/SPDG13F.html I am merely trying to get the signal across the
street to my
neighbor which is no more than 75 feet across, with a window to the living room. The
antenna is
mounted to my roof pointing to his house, he is on the second floor so it is straight
across with
maybe 1-5 degrees. I can't seem to get a reliable consistent signal, It peaks at
75-100 but drops to
zero intermittently. He has winxp so he has to constantly click on the icon tray to
re-enable the
network. Am I doing something wrong? The d-link doesn't allow me to turn off the
other antenna,
which has the stock small duck small antenna, could this be the cause? Please help.
I would think
11dBi and that short distance would work. I have dropped the encryption from 26key to
10key to no
wep at all and I still get complete signal drops, and cycles up to 100%. I haven't
secured the cable
to the side of the house so there could be some slight movement, and the antenna is
secured against
a small pipe coming out from the house. It too may be able to move but only with some
force
applied. I'm going crazy here, do I need to get a stronger antenna? Or a repeater?

Also is there a way in xp to automatically keep the wireless signal? If the signal
drops I have to
click the system tray again to select the network I want to connect to, this gets a
bit annoying.

Thanks,

Peter
