Thanks for the suggestions. It is a single pane window on his side, and with it open, I can't be more than 3 feet from the window with the laptop. I remounted the outdoor antenna so now it's only maybe 45 feet across. I still get a fluctuating signal. We went ahead and spent another $100 on the d-link 900ap+ repeater. Hope this works...

I had a 8dBi patch taped to the window but I had no signal. Moving the antenna just one foot away from the window increase signal strength. The antenna is now permanently mounted outside and works great. Double-pane windows definitely make a difference. -Stefan http://www.hartwellroad.net/ > On Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at 12:00 PM, > [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > > I have a d-link 614+ and I just recently mounted a 11dBi 90 degree > > vertical sector panel antenna > > http://www.superpass.com/SPDG13F.html I am merely trying to get the > > signal across the street to my > > neighbor which is no more than 75 feet across, with a window to the > > living room. > > I had a similar problem, though the distance was much less: ~25 ft (5 > feet between buildings, AP in my window sill, client 20 feet beyond a > window opposite mine with LOS more or less to AP).
