I had a similar problem with my neighbor when we tried to get a link from
inside his house. I had a 8dBi patch taped to the window but I had no
signal. Moving the antenna just one foot away from the window increase
signal strength. The antenna is now permanently mounted outside and works
great. Double-pane windows definitely make a difference.
