Charles, Standard 802.11, 802.11b has no timing problems ... However is BUGS of realization 802.11b in firmware, for amending this BUGS are necessary purchasing KarlNet e.t.s... .... Now I have 36km link, mode Infrastructure (802.11b), 11M@~400Kbyte/sec... if I download usual firmware with BUGS, then 11M@~5Kbyte/sec...
Are surprising to see usual two 802.11b_PC_card, one has limitation 6km and other 20 km :-[]]]] and to hear about problems " 802.11b... timing problems " -Ivan > > you will got a solid signal (assuming clean fresnels and LoS), but if you're > using standard 802.11, you're going to run into timing problems w/ the > protocol you need something like Alvarion, KarlNet TurboCell (aka Lucent > OR), Star OS or somehing that's built for that distance > > -Charles > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Chris Barcellos > Sent: Monday, February 03, 2003 4:23 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [BAWUG] 25 mile link questions > > I am in the process of doing background research for a 25 mile link that > i want to build between my home, and my place of work.
