I used to have WAP11 v1.1 with 2 directional antennas covering different directions. Worked quite well.

Which 802.11 radio does that? Many 802.11 radios decide which antenna
to receive on (this is what is meant by their "antenna diversity"),
but I do not know any that decides which antenna to transmit on.

ciscos allow you to set tx and rx seperatly. I've never seen any reason to do that, although I can imagine some.
