I think it is a moot point to discuss which standard will prevail without discussing
which market place. I don't believe any single standard will become the de facto
choice across the enterprise, hotpots, home, etc. My two-bit, for what it's worth, is
a+g will be the standard in the enterprise and hotspots (overall higher network
capacity from more # of channels), 11g will suffice for the home, and 11b will find
its way into low-power embedded mobile devices.

If I'm wrong, sue me.

yes, I meant b...hmm...wonder why nobody got my second e-mail follow up
which I correct myself...and I am talking about the future when g does
become finalized...

you mean backward compatible to b (obviously, something will be
"backward compatible" to itself).

Anyways, g isn't finalized yet and there seems to be some issues with
cross-manufacturer/chipset/etc. compatibility among g devices.
For the time being, stick with a+b (a uses a less crowded band so it
might be better for those who just seem to not be able to get b to work
reliably).
