We have two positions that we need to fill: Network Test Engineer and Product OEM/Marketing Manager.
Job Description for Network Test Engineer
Description: MetroFi is in the process of building a broadband wireless access network based on Wi-Fi technology. The network will be deployed outdoors with RF equipment and antennas mounted on building rooftops and light poles. The buildings will be connected over various wide-area technologies such as T1s, xDSL, etc. A combination of 802.11a, 802.11b and other proprietary RF technologies will be evaluated.
Duties: The network test engineer’s responsibilities include the following tasks:
- Define test methodologies and processes
- Set up and configure Wi-Fi hardware and other computer hardware and communications gear
- Analyze and select test equipment based on test goals
- Write procedures for network testing
- Set up testing laboratory, including ordering and specifying RF, PC and communications components and gear
- Write procedures for installing Wi-Fi equipment in various operating systems and define and set up field test kits
- Perform field measurements to collect data on the performance of the network
- Write comprehensive reports
- Develop and automate testing programs (C, Perl, scripting languages, etc.) including write Excel macros and modify available software in order to be able to efficiently gather and analyze data
- Be able to supervise rote level testers
Skill Set: Self-starter with ability to see projects through from start to finish with minimal supervision; highly motivated and willing to work in the start-up environment (long hours of hard work absolutely required.) Knowledge of RF, wide-area networking, Wi-Fi and GPS; hands-on mechanical ability; at least 5 yrs. experience as an RF field technician or network technician; excellent writing skills. Must be a master of Excel, preferably with Visual Basic skill. Ability to write Unix scripts and knowledge of network performance monitoring tools a big plus.
Job Description for Product Marketing Manager, Relay Radio
Description: MetroFi is in the process of building a broadband wireless access network based on Wi-Fi technology. The network will be deployed outdoors with RF equipment and antennas mounted on building rooftops and light poles. The buildings will be connected over various wide-area technologies such as T1s, xDSL, etc. A combination of 802.11a, 802.11b and other proprietary RF technologies will be evaluated.
Duties: The product marketing manager’s responsibilities include the following tasks:
- Gather, define, and record product specs for relay radio platform
- Qualify Vendors for outsourced manufacturing and design
- Manage vendor negotiations, including delivery schedule, price, and performance
- Project manage vendor deliveries, for both design and hardware
- Ensure compatibility of software development with hardware platform
- Manage acceptance process and maintenance
- Manage evolution of radio platform
Skill Set: Self-starter with ability to see projects through from start to finish with minimal supervision; highly motivated and willing to work in the start-up environment. (long hours of hard work absolutely required.) Knowledge of RF, wide-area networking, Wi-Fi and the hardware and software development process; at least 5 yrs. experience delivering out-sourced, high-volume manufacturing radio products. Requires excellent writing and project management skills. Familiarity with contracts, specifications, and testing required. Familiarity with WiFi ODM space also required. Experience and knowledge of building products for outdoor requirements would be a plus.
