I picked up a WAP11 v2.8 yesterday. The web interface is broken (username
admin password admin doesn't work) and there is very little one can do with
them it appears.

The chip onboard is labelled ADMtek model ADM8628. I tried uploading
normal atmel firmware, but nogo. I suspect they are still an RFMD chipset,
possibly 17-18dBm tx power in the latest (only based on reference designs
I've found for the ADM8628). Footprint is still the same and the MAC
addresses are still basically the same 000c41, but the units come with a
12vDC PS, will operate as low as 5vDC (although I'm not sure how well at
5v) and nothing else appears to be anything similar to the old units.

The web site has zero details, no firmware updates, no support information,
no announcements of the change.

The packaging the units come in are now different, more purple, rather than
blue. Not much of the sky blue on the boxes they come in. Easy to
identify the difference. Bad thing appears that these units are now all
over town and I can't find any v2.6 units anymore.

I just ordered 10 new units online and if I get v2.8 I may be selling them
ASAP. Anyone interested in v2.8 WAP11's if I get them and they aren't
v2.6?

Any other info on the v2.8 would be greatly appreciated, especially if you
know details on firmware availability and compatibility.
