I am researching the use of Point to Multi-point Broadband Wireless systems to provide Metro Ethernet Services. The Metro Ethernet Forum has several Wireline approaches using Ethernet over Fiber/Ethernet over SONET, etc...
Wireless solutions I am aware use ISM, UNII bands and use proprietary protocols, LMDS, etc. Q1) Is "carrier grade" ethernet services (E-Line, E-LAN) practical from a technical and economic viewpoint using PMP Wireless systems? Target segement is SMBs, ISPs, etc. Q2) What technologies/vendors would you recommend? Q3) What is the Cost/Mbit delivered using Wireless systems?
