Has anyone put an external antenna on a powerbook G4 before? I have a friend who is trying to gain access to my AP but he is right on the fringe of reception and I would like to help him without destroying his powerbook in the process.

I've tried both antennas available from:
http://www.quickertek.com/
In my not-so-scientific tests with mac stumbler, my boss's PowerBook, and a wireless network near my office but not under my control:
Signal Config 15-20 PowerBook G4 1Gz stock 25-30 Stub 45+ Whip
The Stub looks much better than the whip; the stub is harder to install due to the short stiff pigtail pushing the antenna out and the spring loaded slot cover. The whip outperformed the iBook 500 I had sitting next to the powerbook. Both are overpriced.
Another option is the 100mw card available from http://www.macwireless.com/ , but I have yet to try one. I think others on the list have and you might find some answers in the archives.
Good luck,
Tony
