Er, did you read the whole message Jim? COMMERCIAL service? as in Licensed?
We regularly ran 5 watts into the same antennas, and larger ones as 
well....42dbi's were common fare for backbone links...TWT amps, Raytheon 
and Lenkurt. That was the days of analog multiplex.
I did telecom microwave radios for years.
As far as part 15 stuff, who cares? Who's going to come find you and who's 
going to complain?
NO one! My home lan runs a 1 watt transmitter into a 10dbi vertical on one 
port and a 24dbi dish on another, and that's only because I haven't got the 
money for the export amps, or I'd be running 5 watts.
