Personalmente ifconfig lo uso per pura "flessibilità di sistemi" però c'è da considerare che è un po deprecato rispetto le funzionalità offerte da ip. Rispetto la nostra attuale situazione si può usare tranquillamente il pacchetto iproute2, invitando, per sicurezza, all'aggiornamento degli ultimi firmware disponibili chiunque sia in rete.
