Google makes a ton of cash by giving stuff away all the time - 
have you ever seen an add on their home page?

Think about this - 

When you go shopping - is the product you buy worth more than the fact the 
store can market to Pepsi that you purchased Coke?
To Kraft Foods that you purchased something from a competitor?

They are a marketing company - funny - but most don't see them as such
