I'd probably use little PIX 501's for each of the offices depending on the
number of users. The boss' house could use a the VPN client software.

Have you considered using something in the 5GHz range for the links? Like
Trango or Canopy. Or the Cisco 1400? I have a feeling that they may perform
better.
