Others include SOAP, RSS and Weblogging. So they have (for the first time) choose a comprehensive name: Remote Procedure Call! Sorry to ask more but you always push me in the unkown side so I want to learn more... Is there some available report on what distinguate all these solutions? Does MS BigBro or any other BigNames are actually supporting any of theses specific technology? Does anyone currently use some of these technologies? > I've been talking a lot about XML-RPC lately in my posts and it was a big > part of my presentation at the Conference. After a quick understanding I'm sure that Web Service is also a great way to design dedicated services for extranet in conjunction with standard business desktop application (is there any xml-rpc libs for vb?) > For a quick list of services using XML-RPC, check this out: > http://www.xmlrpc.com/directory/1568/services > > One of the most interesting services that supports XML-RPC is NewsIsFree ( > http://www.newsisfree.com ) which can deliver daily News content on just > about every subject in the world right to your home page. > Google also have a XML-RPC gateway to the new API! > I would like to start a Witango News Channel in RSS format that I'm sure > some may find useful - to submit and publish things like lists of the latest > web-sites built in Witango and Witango Product development news. If yes I can throw away my own format that I've just started to design with my minimalist XML knowledge were can I get the description of this format? does it manage multiple language? I will be glad to share thoughts about a such module with everyone who want to develop it, and you surely have the knowledge for choosing the right 'standards' so we can develop a shared/worldwide Witango news module as a WebService. Is there any rules for a such module? I think that news source (the news server) will be unique and each one who want to participate (add/translate) will get an account on the news server. Am I right? maybe the news server will allow a so called XML-RPC connection to add/translate the news, so the flux will be multidirectionnal Does the update process is based on a schedule or it is triggered when a news or translation is added on the source server? > We could have also have a Channel for Witango Developers looking for work or > for companies hiring Witango talent. > > I registered www.witango.org in part for these reasons. Yes the volontarism is surely our best way to demonstrate that Witango is NOT a dead product, your exemple (conference intervention) show that it's possible to achieve some of the most current tasks with the product as it exist now. The WI people have to focus on the core of the product while the communauty enables to the newcommers to use Witango in the widest range of possibility, with contribution like the one you did that have to be considered as an 'addon' to the product possibilities! > On the subject of Marketing for example, someone at the Conference > suggested a great idea of starting an Email campaign: Start writing your > favorite Development Magazine and ask for articles on Witango - or even > offer to write some yourself. Asking for articles is totally doable, but writing one needs a good verve, all is a question of audience ;) Thanks to you to deeply follow the threads!
