My company has been a reseller of accounting software for 12 years. This
idea of co-operative marketing is the model used by the accounting
software reseller channel for years. It's the only way you can reach the
end-user customer in large numbers.

Face-to-face relationship selling is definitely needed in the witango
channel, since this product is very much a "show me" solution.

Typically, the vendor pays for representation at events via co-op
marketing dollars. A typical co-op plan works where you as the reseller
of a witango license get a 5% co-op rebate to be spent on qualified
marketing programs.

So if you sell, say $50,000 in witango licenses during the year, you
would earn $2500 in co-op funds to spend on marketing activities.

Hope this helps

Most of the people on this list stuck with the product through the
Pervasive
disaster. I am sure that Witango is an integral part of our
collective
livelyhoods. Sure there need to be guidelines but I doubt people on
this
list would do harm to their bread and butter. Apple has done this for
years.

Besides, growing Witango is all about reach. With Ent. Does not have
the
resources to get to all 48 states. They have to take some risks. IMHO
opinion this is a very acceptable one.

One of the reasons for Apple's survival is their loyalty. One of the
reasons
for the insane loyalty of their customers is that we have always felt
part
of Apple or the Apple community. This Witango Evangelist idea does the
same
thing.

The truth is if Witango does not rely on others to promote their
product,
they'll never get out of Australia. They had to rely on former
strangers to
be the resellers and distributors. This is just another step down that
path.
