Thanks Ben I've toggled 'SupportsScanning' with no effect, and full path was set on install. I'm curious why both you and Gauthier have W3HCM601.DLL as your COM handler. 058 installed w3hcm501.dll, which looks like a back version, but then I might be grasping at straws.
Thanks, Simon. -----Original Message----- From: Ben Johansen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 03 June 2003 17:39 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Witango-Talk: Can't instantiate COM under 5.0.1.058 I thought LoadHandler=1 was for the Dev Studio Side Try: SupportsScanning=1 And also make sure the full ServerPath is stated [COM] ShortName=COM / DCOM Objects SupportsScanning=0 ServerPath=C:\\Witango\\W3HCM601.DLL [JAVABEAN] ShortName=JavaBeans SupportsScanning=1 ServerPath=C:\\Witango\\W3HBN601.DLL Ben Johansen - http://www.pcforge.com Authorized Witango Reseller http://www.pcforge.com/WitangoGoodies.htm Authorized MDaemon Mail Server Reseller http://www.pcforge.com/AltN.htm -----Original Message----- From: Simon Boddy [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2003 9:33 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Witango-Talk: Can't instantiate COM under 5.0.1.058 Hi list. Clean install of latest v5 (5.0.1.058) on a fresh win2000 advanced server box. Getting the old '-808 cannot create native object' for all COM calls. Can add and browse the objects fine in the editor. LoadHandler=1 is set in handlers.ini. Nothing suspect in objects.ini or applications.ini. The following tell-tale lines in the events log server start up... [ 1036] 2003-06-03 16:51:51 START WARNING Cannot initialize the "COM" plug-in. The plug-in is disabled. [ 1036] 2003-06-03 16:51:51 START WARNING Cannot initialize the "JAVABEAN" plug-in. The plug-in is disabled. What is the story??? Thanks in advance for any help.
