Ah so!  I guess I misunderstood or misremembered the previous
discussions.  These emails will be TO a single individual, with one or
two addresses in the BCC.  

I'm running IIS5 SMTP server.  The only setting I've found is the one
that opens new connections once a max number of messages (20 by default)
is reached on one.  I don't yet understand this stuff enough to get
fancy with custom mail serving.  :)

The most I'll be running at one time in this set is under 1000.  

I guess I'll start with the smaller batches and work up, while keeping
an eye on things to spot any problems.  I'm still researching the SMTP
pickup option, but I've got to start getting some of these out the door.
