Hello all fellow witango/tango developers! ive been struggling with the notorious IIS crash problem when using HTTP upload for over a year now. When someone uploaded a file, my IIS processes (inetserv.exe + dllhost) would leap up a total of 100%, sending the server to almost a complete stop. Sometimes the server would hang, and not respond at all until you restarted the IIS service. Browsing through this list I understand that this is problem i share with many of you.
Many posts here let me understand that HTTP upload is pure evil and should not be used at all. But I have found a solution to this, and right at this moment I have 5 concurrent major file upload sessions with virtually no loss of server performance. Performance usage is at about 10-12%, and other user dont experience any lag at all. When a users completes a file upload, there is a "spike" at 100% for about half a second. The solution was quite simple. After playing around with various IIS and Tango settings I, as a last resort, tried apache 2.x. Reinstalled witango 5 on apache, did some straightforward editing of the conf. file, and BAM - server up again with blizzing performance!
